This seems like a smart move, but whose smart move, it’s hard to say.
She’d badmouthed Michael Bay in the past, so it’s probable that Megan Fox didn’t want to do another Transformers movie. And it’s VERY likely that Bay didn’t want her back. She may have been fired, truth be told, though she’s saying otherwise.
Whatever her shortcomings as an actress, the dishy Fox does seem to have ambition. And there’s another possible franchise, Jonah Hex, with her name on it opening this summer.
The early spin was the Bay and the studio dropped her. Her spin says no.
I can’t imagine Transformers 3 will improve on Transformers 2, or come close to that giddy first hour of Transformers 1. But you never know. They’ve built up the cast in other areas (Patrick Dempsey, for instance). And they ARE shooting part of it at the Kennedy Space Center.

But Bay will have to look elsewhere for his pouty, buxom cheesecake.
